Diplomate of National Board is popularly known as DNB. in India. It is a general name given to the Post Graduate programmes and Post Doctoral Programmes in the medical field.

DNB is not a single medical course but is a general title for the courses. The courses are broadly categorized into the following categories:

  •  DNB – Super Specialities
  •  DNB – Broad Specialities

The three-year training programme is completed under a guide who has been accredited to conduct the training by the National Board of Education. Candidates during the programme perform clinical work, perform emergency duties, maintain records, and other related duties.
All DNB qualifications in the country are recognized by the Medical Council of India. They are posted as per rotations and it is mandatory for them to participate in various conferences, academic meetings, medical seminars and meets etc. The trainees are also provided with a stipend during the programme. There are almost 42 disciplines recognized by the board.
Diplomate of National Board (DNB) Eligibility Criteria

  •  Candidates with a medical degree and those who possess a permanent registration certificate issued by the Medical Council of India can pursue the DNB course.
  •  Candidates should also have successfully completed a one-year internship before submitting the application form.
  •  The age limit to pursue DNB course is up to 50 years.

DNB Admission Process:

  •  The entrance exam for the DNB specialities programme is – (DNB CET-NBE). Candidates must clear the exam for entry. The validity of the exam is 2 years Till 2018.
  •  The merit list of NEET-PG 2020 shall be utilized by National Board of Examinations for admission to various Post MBBS DNB (Broad Specialty & Direct 6 Years Superspecialty) courses. No separate DNB CET shall be conducted.
  •  Candidates who have passed the entrance examination have to register themselves online for the counselling process for the DNB courses.
  •  Admission to the program is on the basis of merit. Candidates can only choose the subject as per merit.

Syllabus for the DNB program is on the basis of the choice of specialisation the candidate has opted for. The syllabus for the program is well structured and is revised periodically to introduce new training methods and technique.

  • The thesis is a vital part of the DNB program for all the applicants registered for the respective program. Applicants must have a strong research background and should be well familiarized with the research methodology.
  • The introduction should state the purpose of the research (synopsis) and the title should be brief and focus on the relevance of the research subject.

DNB CET Counselling 2020 – National Board of Examinations (NBE) is the conducting authority for DNB CET 2020 counselling. The authority has started DNB Post-MBBS 2020 counselling registration and choice filling process, for which the link is available below. Along with DNB CET counselling 2020, the seat matrix and handbook has been released, which can be checked in the article below. NBE conducts the counselling for DNB CET 2020 for admission to 2256 DNB seats available in 1038 hospitals of India. The counselling registration for DNB Post-MBBS counselling 2020 will commence from May 8 to 17, on the official website counseling.nbe.edu.in. Only the eligible aspirants who have qualified NEET PG entrance examination will be eligible to participate for DNB CET counselling 2020. The authority will released round one seat allotment result of DNB CET 2020 by May 22 in online mode. Candidates must obtain the minimum qualifying percentile and scores in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) to appear for DNB CET 2020 counselling. There will be a total of four rounds of DNB CET counselling 2020, where the fourth round will be in offline mode.

DNB CET 2020 counselling – Eligibility criteria

There is a set of criteria pertaining to the counselling of DNB CET which must be mandatorily fulfilled by candidates in order to participate in the same. For the convenience of candidates, these have been listed below:

  •  

    NEET PG eligibility criteria as set by NBE must be fulfilled by all the aspiring candidates

     

    Those medical aspirants who do not participate in the first round of DNB CET counselling 2020 will not be allowed to participate in the subsequent rounds, which includes the final in-person round

     

    Those candidates who are already pursuing any PG course other than DNB will first have to discontinue the same in order to be eligible for the counselling of DNB CET

     

    Those candidates who join the course on their opted seat and then wish to discontinue the same will not be allowed to appear for the examination or pursue the course for three years, i.e., till December 2022. It is the same for candidates joining DNB direct 6 years course. Such candidates will be debarred till 2025

How to register for DNB CET Counselling 2020?

Eligible candidates can refer to the steps below to know how to register for DNB CET 2020 counselling. Candidates must note that the registration process for first three rounds will be held in online mode. However, the fourth and final round for counselling of DNB CET will be offline and in-person round. For the better convenience of candidates, the authority has provided the flow chart for DNB CET counselling 2020, which can be checked below.

Step 1 – Registration

The first step is to register by creating a password. The login credentials thereafter will be the password created and NEET PG 2020 registered email ID/roll number

Step 2 – Login

After registering candidates will have to login using the credentials. An otp will be sent on their NEET PG 2020 registered mail ID and phone number. Aspirants are required to enter that in order to login for DNB CET counselling 2020

Step 3 – Payment of DNB CET 2020 counselling fee

In the next step candidates are required to pay the counselling fee, i.e., ?2500.

Step 4 – Review personal details

The next step for candidates is to review and if need be edit their personal details for counselling of DNB CET.

Step 5 – Uploading documents

In this step candidates are required to upload documents required for DNB CET counselling 2020. The documents uploaded here are to be scanned. Step 6 – Choice filling

Candidates have to select their choices in this step. The choices given here should be in order of preference for counselling of DNB CET. For filling the same candidates have to first select the state, then hospital, followed by specialty and then add choice.Candidates can also shift their choices and remove them by using the arrow and remove button respectively.

Step 7 – Declaration box

The final step of registration for DNB CET counselling 2020 is to click ‘I accept’ in the declaration box. In this step candidates can add and remove choices as many times as they want until they lock their choices.

DNB CET 2020 Counselling – Seat allotment procedure

DNB CET counselling 2020 procedure – Round one

Candidates who successfully register themselves for DNB CET 2020 counselling will be allowed to participate in the same. The procedure for round one is given in the points below:

  •  Each candidate will be allowed to opt for as many choices as many they want. However, they must note that selecting a college, during the counselling of DNB CET, which they do not wish to join will lead them into trouble as aforementioned  Aspirants will be allowed to select their special category also. However, they will also have to upload certificates proving the same  The certificates thus uploaded will then be verified by NBE as well as the authorities concerned at the allotted institute  Aspirants who do not lock their selected choices for DNB CET counselling 2020 will have their options frozen and automatically locked after the last date.  Those candidates who do not pay the registration fee within stipulated time will not be allowed to participate in DNB CET 2020 counselling process  Candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of their preferences and their merit position. The allocation process in the counselling of DNB CET will be done first for the unreserved seats and then the reserved seats. Candidates can look below for the order of allocation.

Unreserved seats

  •  In case UR seats are not available, SC/ST/OBC/PWD seats will be allotted to eligible candidates  If the above mentioned seats are not available then Special category seats (OBC-A/OBC-B/MBS/BCA/SEBC,etc.) will be allotted to eligible candidates  A mock allotment of DNB CET counselling 2020 will be held, following which registered candidates will be allowed to re-arrange/re-shuffle their choices. The authorities will not allow fresh registrations at this time  Once a seat gets allotted, other candidates who opted for the same will have that option automatically disabled  Candidates who accept the allotted seat at the time of DNB CET 2020 counselling will have to pay one-year course fee, i.e., 80,000 through the online counseling portal of NBE. Such candidates will also have to select Certificate and Biometric Verification Centre at the time of online payment of course fee  Aspirants who are allotted a seat will be allowed to participate for upgradation in the second round of counselling of DNB CET and those who were not allotted any seats will also be eligible for the second round  The authorities will display the indicative seat matrix for upgradation on the official website

DNB CET counselling 2020 procedure – Round two

  •  NBE will avail the facility of choice filling for already registered candidates to select their preferred institute, which includes freezing of previously entered and available options and adding new ones. New candidates will not be allowed to register afresh for DNB CET 2020 counselling  Candidates will have to mandatorily remove their earlier allotted seat choice during the second round. Failing to do this candidates will have to accept the newly allotted institute at the time of counselling of DNB CET. Under any circumstances, the authorities will not allow candidates to take admission on the seat allotted in first round if they participate in the second round of DNB CET counselling 2020  Candidates opting for upgraded seat will have their earlier allotted seat given to candidate with a lower rank than the former  After having a seat allotted to them at the time of counselling of DNB CET, candidates will be required to pay one-year course fee and report for Biometric and Document Verification at the allotted centre. Candidates who pay the fee but do not report to the allotted centre will have their candidature cancelled

DNB CET counselling 2020 procedure – Round three

All the processes for the third round of counselling of DNB CET will be same as above. After getting seats allotted to them and Biometric and Document Verification done, candidates will have to download their allotment letter. This will be available to them on the online portal of DNB CET counseling 2020. Such candidates will have to report to the allotted college with the allotment letter and original documents for verification. The authorities at the allotted institute will verify the documents and eligibility of candidates as per the guidelines set by NBE.

Below given documents have to be furnished by candidates at the time of DNB CET counselling 2020. Failing to do this candidates will not be allowed to participate in the same

  •  MBBS degree certificate/Provisional MBBS pass certificate  Permanent registration certificate issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI)/ State Medical Council  Certificate of completion of internship (the date of completion of internship must be on or before December 31, 2020)  Caste certificate issued by competent authority and sub-caste should tally with Central Government list  Special category certificate (if applicable)  Any Bonafide certificate (if applicable)  Valid identity proof (PAN Card/Voter ID/Indian Passport/Driving license/ Aadhar Card with photograph)  

    Candidates accepting their allotted seat will have to pay one-year course fee through Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘ National Board of Examinations’ payable at ‘New Delhi’

The counselling fee is ?2500, payable at the time of registration for online DNB CET 2020 counselling. The authorities will not be processing any sort of refund of the same under any circumstances.
