College of physician and surgeons (CPS) or CPS Mumbai established in 1913, is an autonomous body imparting post graduate medical education and offers 10 fellowship, 39 diploma and 2 certificate courses.

10 COURSES GRANTED RECOGNITION from MCI :-

Following courses and fellowships have been recognised by MCI. Any person who cleared any of these exams and received a certificate will be MCI recognised and eligible to practice anywhere across India as per MCI rules. The recognition is with retrospective effect for any individual who had received this certification prior to the date of notification as well.

College of Physicians & Surgeons (CPS) of Mumbai is an examining body established in 1912 by Surgeon General Sir H. W. Stevenson for meritorious doctors of allopathy desirous to have PG medical qualification before rendering the medical services to the society.

     CPS is one of the oldest Post Graduate Medical educational institution in India empowered to confer qualifications (LCPS, MCPS, Diplomas, FCPS) by Indian Medical Degree Act 1916.
     CPS is an examining body based on Royal College of Surgeons of England and it is like the National Board of Examination (Estd. By Act of Parliament, Govt. of India)
     CPS is an autonomous body governed constitutionally by elected 24 members (faculties of different specialities) with strong democratic traditions.

Recognition

     CPS Fellowships & Diploma Courses are notified by Government of Maharashtra vide notification no. MMC/1096/111/96/Act and vide GR Extraordinary 4-B through notification no. PGM.1010/CR-18 (Part 2)/10/EDU-2 and in the Maharashtra Medical Council Act 1965.
     Government of Gujarat has recognized all the Fellowships and Diplomas of CPS to strengthen the infrastructure of the medical fraternity in the state of Gujarat vide Gujarat Government Gazette no. GP-17-MCG-102011-2213-J dated 14th October 2011 notified by Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat under the Gujarat Acts. CPS courses are recognized in State of Rajasthan, Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

CPS is registereble since its existence in:

     West Bengal Med Council vide Bengal Medical Act 1914.
     Tamil Nadu Med. Council vide TN Medical Act 1914
     Punjab Med. Council vide Punjab Med. Reg. Act 1916
     Orissa Med. Council vide Orissa Medical Registration Act 1961
     CPS is Recognized by Govt. of Malaysia at par with other university.

ADMISSION TO CPS COURSES IN GOVERNMENT DISTRICT HOSPITALS IN MAHARASHTRA

     For Admission to CPS courses in Government District Hospitals in Maharashtra please contact DHS Office, Mumbai.
     After completion of admission procedure at DHS Office, Candidate has to enrolled with CPS. At the time of enrollment, all selected candidates has to fill CPS application form with payment of CPS application money of Rs. 15,000/-, enrolment fees of Rs. 50,200/(For Diploma Courses).
     In addition the candidate is required to pay non-refundable amount of Rs. 52,400 (for basic version) and above (for higher version of EPD) towards cost of Electronic Paperless Devise (EPD).  EPD contains study material, shall record daily attendance and shall be used for 360 degree monitoring of academic activity of CPS students, with the help of data collected and uploaded by EPD on CPS server. (Above mentioned fees are Non-Refundable.)

CPS Recognization : –

     MCI recognizes/permitted Fellowship (FCPS) which is of 3 Years & CPS Diploma courses which is of 2 years, run in both government and private Hospitals ,set up with similar quality standard of the host institute similar academic activities and academic activities Clinical activity in both the courses is similar with respect to emergency case handling, surgical exposure, clinical case discussion, case exposure, availability of equipment and diagnostic tool, patient load to be handled, duty hour, night duty and other facilities.

Regarding the exit examination,

     In Diploma course, theory and practical examination is conducted in host institute ; in practical examination, both internal (high chance of bias in evaluation process) and external examiners are present. Furthermore, passing theory examination is not an essential criterion of eligibility to appear in the practical examination. While in CPS, the final Exam is counted by college & Physician & Surgeon Mumbai.

Eligibility Criteria

A student desirous of joining a Post-Graduate Course must have obtained a basic qualification of MBBS or its equivalent qualification recognized by the Medical Council of India for the purpose of First Schedule Second Schedule or Third Schedule of the IMC Act 1956 as amended from time to time.
All the students who have passed MCI recognized MBBS examination held by any of the recognized universities or have obtained a qualification mentioned in the above paragraph and are seeking admission into CPS affiliated institution for the purpose of the Certificate Course / Diploma / Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Mumbai must provide themselves with Certificate of Eligibility from this College at the time of applying for enrolment as Post-Graduate students. However, a student who has passed the MCPS Examination of the CPS prior to December 2009 Mumbai is exempted from such eligibility certificate.

     Candidate must hold Permanent Registration with the Maharashtra Medical Council or the State Medical Council where the CPS courses are recognized prior to enrolment.
     A candidate, who has passed final M.B.B.S., or equivalent, examination from a medical college recognized by the Medical Council of India.
     A candidate who has completed one-year compulsory internship on or before 31/03/2020. University Internship Completion Certificate is mandatory.
     A candidate, who has appeared for NEET-PG 2020. However, candidate should note that only NEET eligible candidate shall be considered for admission process in initial phases of Central Counselling. If seats remain vacant, then the decision regarding the admission to non-eligible candidates/lowering the NEET score for eligibility shall be taken as per the directions of the Central Government/Respective State Government.
     A candidate shall possess permanent registration certificate from State Medical Council of the respective state at the time of joining.
     The “Foreign Medical Graduates” shall have successfully cleared the qualifying exam or eligibility test conducted by NBE, New Delhi.
     In addition to above, a candidate desirous for PG seat in Maharashtra in an institute run by Government, Corporation or any local body, should have passed MBBS from any institution / University in Maharashtra. Candidates, who have passed MBBS from outside of Maharashtra, shall not be eligible for admission to Government institutions, Corporation institutions or institutions run by local bodies in Maharashtra (aided institutions).

Additional criteria for institutes in Gujarat:

     Note: Only candidates having Domicile of Gujarat may apply for institutes in Gujarat.
     Initially, students, who have cleared SSC, HSC and MBBS from Gujarat shall only be considered for seats in Gujarat.
    However, if seats remain vacant, then second preference shall be given to candidates who have cleared SSC, HSC in Gujarat and MBBS from outside of Gujarat.
     There will be 15% reservation for the candidates who have cleared SSC, HSC in Gujarat and MBBS from outside of India.

Additional criteria for institutes in Dadra and Nagar Haveli (UT):

     Reservation criteria, including the reservation for economically weaker section (PWF), is applicable to all the aided institutions as per the applicable laws/rules prevailing in the respective States/UT.

Admission Process

Admission process of CPS

     As per the new rule admission will be solely on the basis of marks scored in the N E E T exam. Notice for admission shall be displayed on the website of CPS.
     Candidate desirous for admission to CPS Diplomas/Fellowships need to register themselves online through official website of CPS www.cpsmumbai.org
     Candidate is required to register himself/herself with valid mobile number and email-id to create online login account. All the correspondence shall be made on the mobile number and email-id registered at the time of registration.
     After registration, the candidate can log in and fill the online application form along with uploading of required documents and non-refundable application fee of Rs.15,000/-. The fees can be paid Online by using Debit Card/Credit Card/ Net Banking etc. On submission of form, the candidate shall receive ten-digit application number (e.g. 2034452001). The candidate is required to save /remember the ten-digit number, which shall be required for all further process.
     If a candidate is willing to apply for seats in more than one State, he / she needs to apply online for each state separately (if other-wise eligible for multiple states). Separate application number shall be generated for each state.
     Last date of online form submission for 2020 session is in August.
    If any of the information / submitted documents is found to be false / fabricated / fraudulent; the candidate shall be made ineligible for the admission process and such candidate shall be liable for appropriate action decided by CPS Council.
     Determine the right inventory level:

    The diagnostic determined the stressors that affected sales and service levels. The teams focused on resolving issues related to higher-than-normal back-orders and lead times, which stressed the entire supply chain and led to delays in medications reaching consumers.

Selection Process

  • The Seats in Government aided institution, corporations, local bodies in Maharashtra shall be filled only from the candidates who have passed their MBBS from any of the institute / University in Maharashtra.

  • The list of selected candidates shall be displayed on the website of CPS.

  • Selection shall be strictly based on PG NEET score.

  • Candidate wishes to join any of the CPS course is required to pay online non-refundable amount of Rs. 50,200/- (for Diploma) Rs. 60,200/- (for FCPS) which shall be adjusted against enrollment fees.

  • In addition the candidate is required to pay non-refundable amount of Rs. 75,000/- (per student by DD in favour of ‘Paptronics Pvt. Ltd.’ (payable at Pune) (for basic version) and above (for higher version of EPD) towards cost of Electronic Paperless Devise (EPD). EPD contains study material, shall record daily attendance and shall be used for 360 degree monitoring of academic activity of CPS students, with the help of data collected and uploaded by EPD on CPS server.

  • After the payment of non-refundable amount to CPS, the candidate shall be able to download the letter of allotment.

  • Along with the allotment letter, receipt of paid up amount, original documents and requisite institutional fees by DD (as per Annexure – A) student shall report to selected institution.

  • Institution shall verify the relevant original documents and issue “Appointment Letter” to the selected candidate. Institution shall immediately report to CPS Office by email about joining of selected candidates and his status about retention of the allotted seat.

  • Once the candidate joins the allotted institution and starts working, the institution shall issue a “Post Holding Certificate” mentioning date of joining.

  • Candidate shall visit CPS office in person along with “Appointment Letter” and “Post Holding Certificate” received from institute to complete the enrollment procedure after 31st July 2020, as per the schedule.

  • If a candidate desires to retain a seat obtained in any previous round, he shall download the retention form, fill it and submit it to the allotted Institute. Such candidate shall not be considered for up-gradation to their higher choices in subsequent rounds, and he / she has to retain the seat allotted.

  • The candidate, who has not filled retention form will be eligible for upgradation (betterment) as per his / her higher preference. Upgradation to higher preference is compulsory. No claim for previous seat shall be entertained for such candidates. Such candidates shall be permitted to collect their deposited certificates, documents and refund of fees with permissible deduction of Rs. 1000/- towards administrative charges from the previously allotted institute.

  •  In case an eligible candidate is not selected in the first round, he/she remains eligible for the subsequent round for the preference(s) which he/she has given in the preference form.

  • If a selected candidate does not join his/her allotted seat, he/she will not be considered for subsequent rounds. (not even for mop up round)

  • Vacant seats of first round shall be filled in the next rounds of selection.

  •  There shall be two rounds of common counselling process. Seats remaining vacant at the end of the 2nd round shall be filled by personal counselling detail schedule shall be declare later.
